A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it blossomed, he examined it.
有一个人种了一株玫瑰，诚心诚意地浇水，在它开花之前一直仔细观察。
He saw the bud that would soon blossom, but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought，”How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns?”
他看到花蕾很快就要开花，但也注意到了花茎上的刺，他想：“为什么美丽的花都来自负担了这么多尖锐的刺的植物呢？”
Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and just before it was ready to bloom……it died.
因为这个想法，他感到非常悲伤，就在花要开之前，他疏忽了，没有浇水，植物就死了。
So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose.
很多人都是这样。在每个人的灵魂里都有这么一株玫瑰。
The God-like qualities planted in us at birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults.
在我们出生时，优秀的品质把它种下，在我们犯下的错误铸成的刺中成长。
Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the defects.
我们中许多人审视自己的时候只看到那些刺，那些缺陷。
We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us.
我们感到绝望，觉得我们身上没有什么好的东西。
We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies.
我们忽视了浇灌我们本身好的那些东西，最后它们都死了。
We never realize our potential. Some people do not see the rose within themselves；
我们从未了解自身的潜能。一些人没有看到他们内心的玫瑰花；
someone else must show it to them.
其他人就必须向他们展示。
One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach past the thorns of another, and find the rose within them.
一个人能拥有的最棒的天赋之一就是可以原谅别人身上的刺，找到他们内心的玫瑰。
This is the characteristic of love……To look at a person and, knowing his faults，recognize the nobility in his soul and help him realize that he can overcome his faults.
看到一个人，了解他的缺点，欣赏他灵魂里的高贵，帮他认识到他可以克服缺点，这都是爱的体现。
If we show him the “rose” within himself, he will conquer the thorns. Only then will he blossom many times over.
如果我们向他展示他心中的玫瑰，他会征服那些刺。只有那样，他才能花开不败。
